why "mary"?
No, of course OK Motor Services were not so sentimental that they named their buses and coaches.
Although I was pretty despondent when I initially took delivery of a vehicle that was in poor condition and with no real idea of what to do next (see elsewhere on this site), it's surprising how attached both my wife Rosie and I became once we started applying a little TLC in the depths of winter and before even getting the vehicle out onto the road.
We realised that naming her (she is definitely female...) after any of our living family would cause arguments so we thought back to late relatives and chose Rosie's grandmother.
Rosie says Granny Mary always made her smile and feel safe and comfortable.
How prescient! When we chose the moniker in late 2012, Mary the Coach displayed just about the opposite qualities but by the time of her first public outing on 28th July 2013, despite somewhat shabby attire, she really did live up to Granny's name.
